White Wedding Flowers at Elmley Nature Reserve, Kent.
There are some venues where the landscape does most of the talking and Elmley Nature Reserve is one of them.
The brief was centred around a palette of soft whites and ivories, combining fresh seasonal flowers with carefully chosen dried elements. The bride was drawn to a natural, textural style that felt relaxed and romantic, while reflecting the surrounding landscape.
For the bridal bouquet and reception flowers, I worked with delicate white blooms such as dahlias, roses and delphiniums creating movement and softness throughout. Fresh flowers were combined with dried textures to add depth giving the arrangements an organic quality that felt perfectly suited to the setting.
One of my favourite elements of the day was the suspended floral cloud installation above the dining tables. Designed using clouds of gypsophila, the installation appeared to float within the barn space, bringing a sense of lightness and softness to the dramatic timber interior.
Throughout the reception, meadow inspired arrangements were styled along the tables using a mix of fresh flowers and dried materials. The flowers were designed to feel as though they had naturally gathered across the tablescape, echoing the untamed beauty of the reserve outside.
As a florist based in Kent, I am always inspired by venues that embrace the surrounding landscape. This August wedding was a perfect example of how a restrained colour palette can still create impact. By focusing on texture, movement and natural materials, the flowers felt timeless, elegant and deeply connected to their surroundings.
