A design-led Spring wedding at Turner Contemporary, Margate.

There is something really special about creating wedding flowers for a gallery.

This wedding at Turner Contemporary in Margate brought together elegant whites, fresh greens and a relaxed sense of celebration, with the gallery's architecture, huge windows and coastal light providing the backdrop.

The flowers became part of the space itself, from the table arrangements to large-scale hanging floral installations suspended above the tables.

White and green wedding flowers

The colour palette was deliberately restrained, with whites and fresh greens creating a soft contrast against the gallery's clean, contemporary architecture.

I used delicate seasonal flowers alongside loose foliage and more architectural forms, keeping the arrangements natural and slightly wild rather than overly formal. Different heights, textures and shapes helped the flowers feel organic within such a strong architectural setting.

Large hanging floral installations

One of the biggest floral elements were the large hanging installations above the dining tables. Bringing the flowers overhead changed the whole feeling of the room and helped create a more immersive dining space, without taking away from the architecture and views beyond.

A relaxed, considered tablescape

The tables were styled with green and white striped linen, simple white vessels and loose white and green floral arrangements. I particularly liked the contrast between the graphic stripes and the softness of the flowers. With the hanging installation above, the tablescape became layered from floor to ceiling - flowers, linen, tableware and architecture all working together.

Turner Contemporary is such a distinctive setting for a wedding. The combination of contemporary architecture, coastal views and natural light gives you a really strong starting point for the design.

It’s the kind of floral design I particularly love: expressive and thoughtful, but still allowing the space, the people and the celebration to be the focus.
